approximately 2100 feet has aquatic vegetation extending from the shoreline and approximately 2433
feet of natural vegetation in the shoreland impact zone.
V. Beaches.
A. The Proposed Plat provides for one beach of approximately 140 feet in width, with the boat
launching ramp located on the south side of the beach. Relocating the boat launch ramp to the
north side of the beach will result in an additional 30-35 feet of beach area.
B. A second beach approximately 150 feet in width is shown on the shoreline area abutting Dock
System No. 2. This area is the site of two former beach areas on either side of the central
portion of Dock System No. 2. Creation of the beach area and the dock system will require
the removal of a minor amount of emergent aquatic vegetation which was approved by the
DNR representative when the locations of the docking systems were selected prior to plat
approval.
VI. Natural Vegetation; Aquatic Vegetation. Natural vegetation in the shoreline impact zone
and emergent aquatic vegetation in the areas of the docking systems and the two beach areas
will need to be removed. However,Wilderness Resort has 2653 feet of shoreline representing
9% of the total shoreline of Middle Cullen Lake (29,416 feet). Expansion of the existing
beach by virtue of relocating the boat launch ramp will enlarge the existing beach area to
approximately 175 feet. The addition of the second beach will add approximately 150 feet of
beach area for a total of 325 feet of beach area or a total of 12.25% of the total shoreline of
2653 feet, well within the requirements of the Pequot Lakes zoning ordinances that 75% of
the shoreline has natural vegetation
2
