(This total includes the 150 feet of existing beach area.) This amount represents less than 15% of the <br /> total shoreline of 2651 square feet and below the 25% allowable in accordance with Section 17- <br /> 7.9(B) of the city's zoning ordinance. <br /> 6. Shoreline Path. The existing CUP provides "that the road in the bluff and shoreline <br /> setback shall be removed and re-vegetated. An 8 foot wide walking trail may replace the road; <br /> however, all automobile traffic shall be banned. The walking trail shall be constructed with pervious <br /> materials. <br /> The Applicant is requesting that this section of the CUP relating to the pathway on the <br /> easterly and westerly shoreline of the point bluff be amended to: <br /> (a) Provide that resort maintenance personnel be allowed to utilize the entire path with <br /> motorized equipment and vehicles for maintenance purposes including but not limited <br /> to installation, repair and removal of docking systems, non-motorized watercraft, <br /> beach chairs, etc. and motorized equipment for maintenance and repair of the pathway <br /> and surrounding vegetation, including permitted trimming and removal of deadfall and <br /> invasive plant species. <br /> (b) Provide that resort guests may use electric golf carts to access the beach and boat dock <br /> areas, provided that they do not travel beyond the designated golf cart parking areas <br /> located before the bluff areas on the east and west sides of the point. The proposed <br /> golf cart parking areas have been located behind areas of existing shoreline vegetation <br /> and will be screened when viewed from the water. No golf cart or motorized vehicle <br /> traffic will be allowed beyond the golf cart parking areas. Golf cart parking areas will <br /> have pervious coverage (mulch) and are outside of the shoreline impact zone and <br /> restricted bluff areas. Signage will be posted at the locations shown on the site plan <br /> adjacent to the bluff areas prohibiting motorized vehicular traffic with a lockable gate <br /> mechanism which will allow access for emergency vehicles and resort maintenance <br /> personnel only. The Applicant is attempting to minimize motor vehicle traffic within <br /> the resort and facilitating the resort's owners and guest's ownership and/or use of <br /> electronic golf carts.
