<br />Pequot Lakes Staff Report 3 - 1 <br />April 16, 2015 <br /> <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING – ORDINANCE AMENDMENT <br /> <br />Application: Ordinance Amendment Regarding Gas Pricing and Digital <br />Displays <br /> <br />Applicant: City of Pequot Lakes <br /> <br />Agenda Item: 3 (c) <br /> <br />Background Information: At the June, 2015 Planning Commission meeting it <br />was determined that the section of the Sign Ordinance pertaining to gas pricing is <br />in conflict with the section regarding Digital Displays. <br /> <br /> <br />Applicable Regulations: <br /> <br />Section 17-7.1 SIGNS <br />5. Onsite Signs. <br /> <br /> A. Commercial and Industrial Districts. <br /> <br /> <br />(8) Static LED displays used for advertising the price of <br />gasoline shall be permitted. <br /> <br /> (a) A total of five (5) digits per face may be displayed <br />digitally. <br /> <br /> (b) The height of an LED digit may not exceed sixteen <br />(16) inches. <br /> <br /> (c) The sign shall not exceed a brightness level of 0.3 <br />foot candles above ambient light as measured 100 feet <br />from the sign. <br /> <br />(9) Dynamic Displays: Any sign using a dynamic display, in <br />whole or in part, must meet the following operational <br />standards: <br /> <br /> (a) Size: The total amount of area of dynamic displays on a <br />property shall not exceed 32 square feet. Each side of a <br />two-sided sign shall be counted towards to the cumulative <br />amount of signage allowed. <br /> <br /> (b) Location: The dynamic display sign must be located at
