upswing and changes to the highway coming soon,
certainly more vehicles and/or equipment will be needed.
We have pursued many different possible locations for a
garage. I feel that because of the costs associated with the
other locations, the best plan is to build just north of the
current City Hall building. We also explored adding an
addition to the existing building. The estimate for this was
three and a half times more expensive than the proposal to
have the garage built as a separate building. The
approximate cost to build a garage just north of the existing
City Hall is in the $85,000 -$90,000 range.
I would propose that if this project moves forward,
50% of the funds come from the current 2013 Roads &
Streets Capital Outlay Funds and 25% each from Water and
Sewer Funds. I am requesting to have this project
completed by late fall, 2013.
Council Action Requested: Council motion to build the
garage in 2013 with funding as stated in the above
paragraph.
