� <br />City Council Minutes <br />May 1, 2012 <br />Page 6 of 8 <br />-------------------------- <br />The Clerk presented the budget calendar that will be followed as <br />department heads prepare their budgets. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO CALL A SPECIAL <br />COUNCIL MEETING ON AUGUST 21, 2012 AT 6:30 P.M. FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF HOLDING A BUDGET WORKSHOP. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />0. <br />Nancy Malecha questioned whether the Council had any direction for <br />Department Heads while working on the 2013 budgets. Mayor Adams <br />stated she would like to see a 0% increase in the budgets. Council <br />Member Akerson stated he would like to see a 10% decrease in budgets. <br />11.2. Propertv Acquisition <br />The City Clerk informed the Council that the Ratchke estate has offered to <br />donate property to the City. She stated that there is approximately 20 <br />acres of property of which about 4-5 acres are buildable. Discussion was <br />held regarding the fact that the City dump was associated with a portion of <br />`-- the property. Discussion also pursued regarding the fact that although the <br />property has been cleaned up, there may still be an issue of possible <br />contamination of the property. The Council stated that the City should <br />verify with the Environmental Pollution Agency that there is no liability on <br />the property. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO LOOK INTO THE <br />POSSIBLITY OF ACCEPTING THE DONATION CONTINGENT THAT <br />THE CITY RECEIVE A CLEAR EXPLANATION FROM THE EPA <br />STATING THAT THIS IS NOT A RESTRICTED PROPERTY TO <br />ENSURE THE OLD DUMP IS NOT CONTAMINATING THE PROPERTY. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br />11.3. Local Board of Review <br />The Mayor indicated that the Council transferred the assessment and local <br />board of review duties to the County three years ago. The County has <br />been holding open book meetings for City of Pequot Lakes' residents for <br />the past three years. <br />� <br />
