City Council Minutes <br />November 5, 2013 <br />Page 9 of 10 <br />----------------------------- <br />MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />0. <br />10.3. Health Insurance Renewal Rates <br />Nancy Malecha provided the Council with information on the health <br />insurance renewal rates. She noted that there will be no increase in the <br />non-union premium rates but that there will be a 6.5% increase in the <br />union health insurance rates. <br />10.4. Request to Retain Mallie Law Office <br />The Clerk noted that staff has been working with Matt Mallie on a certain <br />case relating to a nuisance ordinance and requested the Council to retain <br />Mr. Mallie for this one particular issue for continuity purposes. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED TO RETAIN MATT MALLIE <br />LAW FIRM TO ASSIST THE CITY WITH A NUISANCE ABATEMENT <br />ISSUE. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />10.5. Leqal Services — RFP <br />The Clerk explained that she has prepared a draft RFP for legal services. <br />She noted that the City is currently using Marylee Abrams for personnel <br />and labor issues and Clyde Ahlquist for routine City issues. She <br />suggested that the Council send out an RFP for general City legal <br />services for 2014. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER AUTHORIZED STAFF TO MOVE <br />FORWARD WITH THE RFP PROCESS FOR LEGAL COUNSEL. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br />10.6. NJPA Board Nominations <br />The Clerk noted that the City is eligible to have a representative on the <br />NJPA Board because the City is a member of NJPA. If nominated, the <br />position will be voted on by the NJPA Board Members. There were no <br />nominations from the Council. <br />11. Other Business <br />12. Adiournment <br />
