Ordinance Amendment to Allow Diaital Gas Price Displavs — Rose Citv <br />Siqn <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 12- , <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 17 OF THE CITY CODE REGARDING DIGITAL <br />SIGNS. AND COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />Report by Chuck Marohn. Chuck Marohn stated that the Planning <br />Commission has reviewed a request to amend the City Sign Ordinance to <br />allow gas prices to be displayed with static LED numbers. He noted that <br />the Planning Commission is recommending approval of the ordinance <br />amendment. <br />Chuck Marohn stated that there has been a recommended amendment to <br />the proposed ordinance regarding the height and brightness of the letters <br />on the sign. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO AMEND THE MOTION BY ADDING THE <br />`-- FOLLOWING: <br />ii. THE HEIGHT OF AN LED DIGIT MAY NOT EXCEED SIXTEEN <br />(16) INCHES. <br />ii. THE SIGN SHALL NOT EXCEED A BRIGHTNESS LEVEL OF <br />0.3 FOOT CANDLES ABOVE AMBIENT LIGHT AS MEASURED <br />100 FEET FROM THE SIGN. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE AMENDMENT. <br />Council Member Ryan stated that he is not in favor of the amendment as <br />the additional requirements are going in the wrong direction of simplifying <br />the sign ordinance. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE ON THE AMENDMENT: AKERSON — NAY; <br />MALECHA — AYE; RYAN — NAY; SJOBLAD — AYE; ADAMS — AYE. <br />AMENDMENT CARRIED 3-2. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE ON THE MOTION AS AMENDED: AKERSON — <br />AYE; MALECHA — NAY; RYAN — AYE; SJOBLAD — AYE; ADAMS — <br />AYE. <br />�,, MOTION AS AMENDED CARRIED 4-1. <br />
