SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2015 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Mayor Sjoblad, Council Members Akerson, Karr, Loukota, <br /> and Pederson <br /> Staff Present: Sandy Peine, City Clerk <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Mayor Sjoblad called the special meeting of the Pequot Lakes City Council <br /> to order at 12:00 p.m. <br /> 1.1 Pledge of Allegiance <br /> Mayor Sjoblad led with the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> 2. Consider Administrator Options <br /> Mayor Sjoblad explained that the purpose of the meeting is to review the <br /> options presented by Gary Weiers of David Drown Association for filling <br /> the City Administrator position. He noted that the Council offered the <br /> position to Mark Casey, but Mr. Casey declined to accept. <br /> The Council was presented with Options A— E prior to the Council <br /> meeting. <br /> MAYOR SJOBLAD MOVED TO USE OPTION E OF THE OPTIONS <br /> PROVIDED BY GARY WEIERS: <br /> • CONSIDER PROMOTING NANCY MALECHA TO THE <br /> ADMINISTRATOR/CLERK POSITION. HER POSITION COULD <br /> THEN BE FILLED BY PROMOTING THE ADMINISTRATIVE <br /> FINANCE ASSISTANT AND FILLING THAT POSITION FROM <br /> OUTSIDE THE ORGANIZATION. <br /> • A MENTORING RELATIONSHIP WOULD BE ESTABLISHED <br /> WITH A SEMI-RETIRED ADMINISTRATOR WHO COULD <br /> PROVIDE GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT DURING A TRANSITION. <br /> THIS WOULD BE ON A CONTRACT BASIS. <br /> • AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, THE POSITION COULD CONVERT <br /> TO AN "ADMINISTRATOR ONLY" POSITION AND THE CLERK <br /> DUTIES COULD BE DELEGATED TO THE DEPUTY CITY <br /> CLERK. <br />
