Call Meeting to Order <br /> Mayor Sjoblad called the special meeting of the Pequot Lakes City Council to <br /> order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> Mayor Sjoblad opened the public hearing regarding the potentially dangerous <br /> dog situation. <br /> Sergeant Chad Turcotte provided the introductory and background comments on <br /> the case. On July 10, 2015, the Pequot Lakes Police Department responded and <br /> subsequently issued a potentially dangerous dog notice to Annette Fennell. <br /> Sergeant Turcotte outlined the requirements and process for this hearing and <br /> referenced Minnesota Statute 347.50 which states that a potentially dangerous <br /> dog means any dog, that when unprovoked, inflicts bites on a human or domestic <br /> animal on public or private property. Sergeant Turcotte informed the Council that <br /> Mrs. Fennell has complied with the statutory requirement of microchip <br /> identification for her dog, Mya. <br /> Annette and Brian Fennell, 3708 Fox Lane, Pequot Lakes, MN approached the <br /> Council. <br /> Brian Fennell explained the situation that occurred on July 10th. The Fennell's <br /> son and two neighbor boys were playing at their residence in the backyard with <br /> their dog, Mya. The children went into the house and left Mya outside with the <br /> gate open. Mya wandered through the field and came upon two dogs, one of <br /> which was the attacked dog. Mr. Fennell noticed that Mya was out and <br /> instructed the boys to get her. When the boys approached Mya, she was <br /> between them and two growling, barking dogs. Mya, being protective of their <br /> son, proceeded to attack one of the dogs. Mya was brought back to the house <br /> when the owner of the injured dog came over. The injured dog went to the <br /> veterinarian and Mr. and Mrs. Fennell paid its bill of approximately $300.
