WIDSETH <br /> SMITH <br /> June 15, 2015 NOLTING <br /> Brainerd/Baxter <br /> 7804 Industrial Park Road <br /> PO Box 2720 <br /> Baxter,MN 56425-2720 <br /> Honorable Mayor and Council Members <br /> City of Pequot Lakes 218.829.5117 0 <br /> 218.829.2517 113 <br /> 4638 County Road 11 d@wsn.us.com <br /> Brainerdewsn.us.com al <br /> Pequot Lakes, MN 56472-0361 WldsetiSmlthNotdngcom <br /> RE: Proposal for Engineering Services <br /> Pequot Boulevard—West Lake Street to Ramsey Street <br /> Pequot Lakes, MN <br /> Honorable Mayor and Council Members: <br /> As directed at your May Council meeting, we have prepared a proposal for improvements to <br /> Pequot Boulevard from West Lake Street to Ramsey Street. <br /> Scope of Improvements <br /> We met out in the field with Mike Loven to discuss the extent and level of improvements. <br /> The improvements will start at the south edge of the end of the westerly extension of West Lake <br /> Street, proceed south and southeast on Pequot Boulevard to the intersection with Ramsey <br /> Street (including this intersection), and will include storm drainage improvements within the <br /> platted Ramsey Street Right-of-Way leading down to Sibley Lake. <br /> The basic approach is to remove and replace the existing bituminous pavement-the new <br /> surface generally being not much, if any, wider than the existing surface. <br /> The plan is to keep any existing curb and gutter-and in these locations, not to have any <br /> improvements or disturb areas behind the curb and gutter. <br /> A new catch basin or catch basins will be located at the `south to southeast' bend in Pequot <br /> Boulevard. From our field visit with Mike, it appears drainage from the north already basically <br /> flows to this location as well as a little bit of the drainage from the southeast. <br /> Any existing storm drainage pipes within the Right-of-Way(RAN) will be removed. If the storm <br /> drainage pipes go off R/W, they will be plugged at the edge of the R/W line (i.e. we do not <br /> intend to go onto private property). <br /> The new catch basin(s) will be connected to new storm sewer pipe, and probably a storm sewer <br /> manhole or two. This system will probably be located in the center of the road or the lake side to <br /> save existing curb and gutter. This pipe system will direct storm water to the southeast towards <br /> the natural low point at the intersection with Ramsey Street. <br /> An infiltration basin will then be constructed along the north side of the existing access down to <br /> Sibley Lake. <br /> After the pavement removal and storm drainage system installation, the roadway subgrade will <br /> be re-graded to obtain proper cross slopes. <br /> Engineering Architecture Surveying En vironmental <br />
