COUNCIL MEMBER KARR SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 10.2. City Clerk's Office Organizational Structure Mayor Sjoblad stated David Drown Assoc. had previously presented three options for the Council to consider regarding the reorganization of the City Clerk's Office. He stated that the options are: Option 1 — Maintain the Current Structure Option 2 — Hire an Administrator and Convert Finance Administrator Position to Clerk/Treasurer Option 3 — Hire an Administrator/Clerk and maintain other positions Mayor Sjoblad requested the Council Members to state the option they are in favor of pursuing and to state their reasons. Council Member Loukota - Option 2. It would be difficult in matching the duties currently being done by the Clerk and some of the tasks would fall to the Council. If an administrator takes on more responsibility, the Mayor's responsibilities would decrease. Council Member Akerson - Option 1. This would leave everything the same. The Finance Director is second in command could handle some of the work the existing Clerk is doing. This would be a savings of$15,000. The Council has always been able to handle the work load in the past and should be able to handle it in the future. Council Member Pederson - Option 2. Finding the right person will be key. Professionalism is important. The Administrator would be trained in human resources which is important. Council Member Karr— Option 2. If an administrator takes on more of the day to day responsibilities of the Mayor it would take some of the responsibilities from the Mayor. In checking with the League of Minnesota Cities they recommended an administrator. Mayor Sjoblad — Option 2. It is important that the employees have a say in choosing the final candidate.
