MOTION <br />CARRIES 4-0. <br /> <br />10.5 Purchase Agreement – Lot 2, Block 1, Heart of the Good Life First Addition <br /> <br /> Ms. Duus advises Council Members the changes regarding the purchase <br />agreement were very minimal and mostly came down to just how things should <br />be worded. Our attorneys reviewed the agreement and then talked to their <br />attorneys, and everything should be good to move forward. <br /> <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVES TO ADOPT THE RESOLUTION <br />APPROVING THE SALE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY DESCRIBED AS LOT <br />2, BLOCK1, HEART OF THE GOOD LIFE FIRST ADDITION TO CLL LAND 2, <br />LLC FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE OF $160,000. COUNCIL MEMBER <br />PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIES 4-0. <br /> <br />10.6 North Star Act Resolution <br /> <br /> Council Member Pederson explains the North Star Act. He states Legislators <br />want to make the State of Minnesota a sanctuary state. He says he is opposed to <br />it and proposes the City also oppose this act by adopting a resolution as other <br />cities have done. He states it bans law enforcement from sharing information and <br />enforcing the law. Council Member Pederson states it unfairly favors and <br />supports illegal immigrants over legal immigrants and our own citizens. Mayor <br />Gardner responds and says he really likes that the resolution specifically state <br />the City of Pequot Lakes citizens should not be negatively impacted by the <br />results of illegal immigration and the North Star Act and the City of Pequot Lakes <br />supports legal immigration and the positive impacts it provides our communities. <br /> <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVES ADOPT RESOLUTION 24-13 THE <br />NORTH STAR ACT RESOLUTION. COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ronning adds that he agrees with Council Member Pederson <br />100%. He states that this has been an ongoing issue, and he is tired of it. He <br />further states that we need to encourage other counties, cities, and other entities <br />to join in on this to oppose the North Star Act. <br /> <br />MOTION CARRIES 4-0. <br /> <br />Mayor Gardner responds that he would like to have a letter drafted regarding the <br />issue and send it to our County Commissioners.
