Park Commission Minutes <br />February 26, 2024 <br />Page 3 <br />------------------------- <br /> <br />Angie Duus said she will research the name of the park and update the Park <br />Board. <br /> <br />10. Mayo Creek Update <br /> <br />Nancy Adams updates that she may take this topic off the agenda. David Lind <br />comments on the impact the beavers are making and the mess they are causing. <br />He further comments on clean up and how the oak trees are being affected. He <br />also questions if we can clean up, however the DNR may not allow, due to it <br />being the beavers natural habitat. Further discussion ensued regarding DNR <br />restrictions. The Park Board plans to leave this topic on the agenda for one more <br />month. <br /> <br />11. Community Sign Update <br /> <br />Angie Duus updates there is a scheduled demo meeting on March 12th at 11 am. <br />Kim Churack comments on the timing of the day and if it will be effective in truly <br />seeing the benefits of a digital sign. Nancy Adams comments she would like to <br />have two members be present at the March 12th meeting. Discussion ensues on <br />which members will be available to attend the meeting. <br /> <br />12. Other Business <br /> <br />Nancy Adams seeks permission to purchase another feature for the Splash Pad. <br />She requests two water cannons that swivel and can shoot at one another. She <br />states for the pair, it would be over 13 thousand dollars. Ms. Adams will forward <br />the email received regarding the cannon features to Angie Duus. Ms. Duus <br />states she will have the topic added to the agenda at the next City Council <br />Meeting. Ms. Adams states she will look for 10 individuals to give a thousand- <br />dollar donation. Ms. Adams will add it to her agenda. <br /> <br />Ms. Adams comments on the attendance at City Council Meetings. David Lind <br />questions whether members need to be present at each month’s meetings. Ms. <br />Duus responds that City Council Members enjoy reviewing the Park Board notes. <br />Kim Churack expressed she will attend the City Council Meeting for March. Ms. <br />Adams said she will provide notes for Ms. Churack. <br /> <br />Mr. Lind comments on not understanding where the money comes from and how <br />it’s distributed. Additional Discussion ensued on funding. Keith Simar requests a <br />quarterly report in reference to funds with the intention of having checks and <br />balances and to see where funding is at. Ms. Adams questions the franchise <br />fees; additional discussion ensued regarding how the fees could be best used. <br />Ms. Adams comments she will add financials to next month’s agenda. She wants <br />to know what items should be addressed this year and how to spend the budget.
