6.4 If the Employer has reason to reprimand an employee, the Employer shall attempt to do it in a <br />manner that will not embarrass the employee before other employees or the public. <br />ARTICLE 7 <br />OVERTIME, COMPENSATORY TIME <br />7.1 All hours worked by an employee in excess of eighty (80) in a fourteen (14) day work period, that <br />is not part of their regular scheduled hours, shall be compensated for at the rate of one and one- <br />half (1%2) times the employee's regular straight time rate of pay or as compensatory time, figured <br />at one and one-half (1%2) hours of compensatory time for each hour of overtime worked. <br />Accumulation of and use of compensatory time is subject to approval of the Police Chief. Actual <br />hours worked on a holiday do count toward "hours worked" for purposes of overtime. <br />7.2 Employees may accumulate compensatory time for overtime hours worked not to exceed one <br />hundred 100) hours with a maximum compensatory time payout of one hundred (100) hours per <br />calendar year. Compensatory time may be carried from year to year, but only to the accrued <br />maximum as allowed under Section 11.3 of this Agreement. Compensatory time, over the <br />allowed accrued maximum to be carried over, for the following year, shall be paid in cash if not <br />used by December 31 of the year in which it is earned, unless an employee requests and receives <br />City Council approval for the exception to this rule. In cases of termination, for any reason, <br />accrued compensatory time shall be paid to the employee in cash. <br />7.3 Employees required to appear in court during their off -duty hours shall receive a minimum of two <br />(2) hours pay or compensatory time at the rate of one and one-half (1%) times the employee's <br />regular straight time rate of pay. Employees are required to check with Court Administration 1 <br />(one) hour prior to closing the business day prior to their scheduled date to appear at court. <br />Should Court Administration notify the employee of scheduled court cancellation with less than <br />24 hours notice after- 4:30 p.m. (e the day prior' prior to their scheduled appearance in court -to <br />a- a4 ,.,,,,.,, the employee shall still receive the two (2) hour minimum pay. <br />7.4 Employees called back to work during their off -duty hours shall be paid a minimum of two (2) <br />hours pay or compensatory time at their rate of one and one-half (1'/z) times the employee's <br />regular straight time rate of pay. Employees must work the full two (2) hours in order to receive <br />the rate of one and one-half (1 %2) times the employee's regular straight time rate of pay. <br />7.5 For the purpose of computing overtime compensation, overtime hours worked shall not be <br />pyramided, compounded, or paid twice for the same hours worked. Overtime will be calculated to <br />the nearest quarter of the hour. Overtime shall be paid for hours worked over eighty (80) hours <br />that were not part of regularly scheduled hours. <br />7.6 Employees have the obligation to work overtime or call backs if requested by the Employer <br />provided the employee meets departmental policy standards for reporting for duty. <br />7.7 Overtime shifts shall be offered in order of seniority to available, qualified employees. A shift <br />which is worked by a part-time employee at straight time is not considered an overtime shift. <br />7 <br />
