EDC Minutes
December 19, 2023
City Administrator Angie Duus states it is still beneficial to invite the landowners
to the January meeting as more of an informational update since it will be on
hold for a bit longer than expected.
Chair Lottman states we have one person present from Woods to Water Real
Estate, that has inquired about skipping the process just laid out and would like
to propose an option to purchase all Trailside Estates for $475k. Mr. Narveson
would like to have the plat completed so lot lines are established. He states they
intend to put in affordable housing. His description of affordable housing is a
typical 2-bedroom, 2 bathrooms. Mr. Narveson states they would be willing to
keep commissions at a flat 2.5 percent and they would have a development
agreement in place. He advises their plan would be to have one third of homes
completed by the end of 2024 and the remaining completed in 2025. The project
would consist of 20 houses in total.
Discussion ensues making sure the developer is clear on the direction the city is
moving forward with. Because they intend to move forward with a common area
as part of the development plan. The plat has 28 lots total, 8 with existing and 20
left to build.
Commission Lewica asks Mr. Narveson to describe his version of affordable
housing. He then presents photos of example houses. Examples included slab
homes and showed a potential of including townhomes.
It is brought to attention that we would need a letter intent to proceed. Mr.
Narveson responds and will have one sent over to Administrator Duus as soon
as possible.
6. School Update
Superintendent Kurt Stumph appears to update on a few items. He thanks everyone
that participated in the Career Fair. He also says that Joanna O'Neil was selected for
their employee of the year.
He says regarding the school facilities, they did a random survey of 500 families. He
states he had gotten an update that families were very willing and wanted to share their
thoughts.
They are in the middle of fiscal year 2024 budget then will start 2025 budget.
Mr. Stumph states they are always looking to bring in ideas for extra curriculars, like
robotics and areas that they can expand.
Chair Lottman states not sure how to engage the kids more at career fair. He says they
would like to come up with different ways to encourage that. Mr. Stumph responds that
Joanna O'Neil is also attending Chamber meetings to get more connected to different
types of businesses and brainstorm new ideas to bring to the table.
