season long.
I thought a 7-8' wide trellis would be great to separate the patio area from the general games area. it
you wanted you could plant grapes on either side or morning glory plants which bloom all summer or
leave it plain.
The morning glory annuals could also be under planted around the lilac bushes so you would have them
climbing in the bush throughout the summer for color once the lilacs are finished.
It may be interesting to have a decent size pergola in the middle of the grassy area for people to sit in
while watching those playing the various games and to break up the long stretch of playing areas. I
put chess tables in the patio area, which I think should have pavers, and this area, should be around
40-50 feet long and 17' deep depending on how wide the building extensions are. I just picked a
number of 20' wide by 25' long for the building extensions. I put narrow gardens (31)around patio area
with very easy, great looking foliage all season long. This area will be quite shady I would think. So you
have a decent amount of patio space to play with. Maybe children's activities on one side. You could
add other tables and maybe even an outdoor gas fire pit.
At the far left corner of the property with the huge tree I thought it would be really nice to have a
couple of comfy chairs or swing area that is covered. Great reading area or just a quiet place to visit,
surrounded by some plants and arborvitae trees for privacy. Connects up to the large side garden
area. Also put a birdbath in the garden for those who love to watch birds.
At the back of the lot, where I put the apple trees on a trellis, there is one main tree with lots of brush
around it....i would get rid of all that brush. Also for the side 100 ft section of the lot where it's covered
in brush I kept in the trees at the back and figured all the rest would be cleaned out with some
pathways throughout the gardens. You would have to determine if the trees at the back are worth
keeping or not. Maybe keep some and get rid of ones that aren't doing well. Trim everything up. Also
the trees by the raised bed garden area need some trimming done.
Thankyou for giving me the opportunity to design this area. It was challenging and fun. I am not
charging you for the design ideas, however, once you do make a final decision on what plants you
would like, I can order everything and have the plants delivered to the site. I would also place all the
plants and you can plant. Of course, this is a rough draft without precise measurements so the
amount of plants I have in the designs will not be exact. Maybe close but not exact. Once you
determine what you want more precise measurements could be taken.
Patty Bonicatto
New Life Gardens
