Library Board Report — December 12, 2023 The Halloween program was a great success. We had 658 people come through during the 2 hours of the program. Thanks to Jenny Moe, Terri Grimes, Renee Moodie, Tony Koch, Faith Kimbler and the Eagles 4-H dub for all their help during the program. In addition to handing out candy treats the Eagles 4-H club set up 3 different games and a color table for the Trick or Treaters. We had originally planned that part of the program to be outside on the new lot, but the weather turned cold, so the meeting room was used instead. • I've put on hold the acquisition of the Krayon Kiosk. I had difficulty in reaching anyone at the company. I'm still going to try. The library won second place in the Christmas lighting contest. The prize was $100.00. The Amazing Hoopsters were fantastic and even though the weather was not good we had 80 people attend the program. Thanks to Terri Grimes and the Friends of the Library for organizing and financing the program. We had a wonderful float in the Santa's Bobbin parade. Thanks to Tom Adams, Tom and Marcy MacAuley, Mara Huber, Nancy Adams, Kevin & Joyce Olson, Jenny Moe and Tony Koch for decorating the float and passing out candy during the parade. • 1 purchased a new rug for the Children's Room story time area. It has proved helpful in defining the area where children should sit for story time. • Thanks to Mark Jurchen and Suz Koch we have added Duplo blocks for the younger children to play with. • This next quarter I plan to update the Procedures Manual with volunteer input. During January — March I'm planning on a winter reading program for all ages. Participants pick up a form starting January 2"d, they read 5 books and record the author/title. The first time they turn in a form they will receive a book bag and can put their name in for the grand prize drawing. Participants can continue to read until the end of the program, for every 5 books read they can add their name again to the grand prize drawing. There will be one prize for kids and one for adults. Still looking for ideas for the grand prizes. I will be asking the Friends to fund the prizes. The contest ends March 3111 and I'll announce the winners on April 111. I'm working on instructions for the volunteers.
