Ladder Truck Purchase Joint Powers Agreement <br /> Council Member Pederson inquires how many years of service is expected out of <br /> the ladder truck. Fire Chief Schwankl stated around 30 years, and the truck will <br /> be paid for within 10 years. <br /> Fire Chief Mike Schwankl provides information on the recent ladder truck <br /> purchase and how the joint powers agreement works. Chief Schwankl says the <br /> plan was for alternating capital purchases so that one city wouldn't get all the <br /> responsibility for bonding and that Breezy Point was going to take the first one <br /> since it was the largest and they have the largest capacity. Then next year would <br /> be the responsibility of the City of Pequot Lakes. <br /> Council Member Ronning asks what the ladder height is. Chief Schwankl <br /> responds saying it has 101 ft. ladder, 2250-gallon pump on it and a 250-gallon <br /> tank. He states it is almost twice the capacity of their current engine. The <br /> intention is when the next engine is purchased two engines will go out of service <br /> and the ladder truck will become the third. He says it will be equipped almost <br /> identical to an engine so it can serve both purposes. The truck will fit in both fire <br /> stations. <br /> When the truck is delivered on the 17th, he plans to leave it at the Pequot fire <br /> station for a week or two, so if anyone wants to come take a look at it, they are <br /> more than welcome to. He said they then plan to take it to the Breezy fire station <br /> for the same purpose. It will be some time yet before the truck is used on any <br /> calls as they need to train with the equipment and get it outfitted. <br /> Council Member Ronning brings to attention the price that was paid for the truck <br /> versus what the truck is worth. Discussion ensues on the replacement cost of the <br /> truck. It would cost roughly $2 million to replace we paid $1.49 million. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVES TO APPROVE THE JOINT POWERS <br /> AGREEMENT.
