MOTION <br /> CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 8.1. Request to Hire Full-Time Police Officer <br /> Chief Klang stated that 10 candidates were interviewed for the position of <br /> full time police officer and that all of the required testing has been done on <br /> the top two candidates. Chief Klang recommended that the Council hire <br /> Matt Jorgens as a full time police officer to replace Rich Hogan. He is <br /> currently working for Pequot Lakes as a part time officer. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO HIRE MATT JORGENS AS <br /> FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER BEGINNING JUNE 9, 2014, STARTING <br /> AT STEP ONE OF THE PAY PLAN AND THAT ON JANUARY 1, 2015, <br /> HE RECEIVE THE SAME INCREASE IN PAY AS OTHER UNION <br /> EMPLOYEES BASED UPON THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF <br /> THE SIX-MONTH PROBATIONARY PERIOD. COUNCILMEMBER <br /> GARDNER SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> �,. 5.1. Highway 371 Update —Jim Hallgren <br /> Jim Hallgren gave an update on the status of the Highway 371 project. He <br /> stated that MnDOT has been successful in getting the funding which <br /> places the project on schedule for the fiscal year 2018. The project will <br /> include an interchange at County Road 11. He anticipates the project to <br /> begin during the summer of 2017. MnDOT will begin meeting with property <br /> owners that will be impacted by the project. <br /> 9. Public Works <br /> 9.1. City Engineer Update <br /> Tim Houle presented the following updates. <br /> • WWTF Facility Plan <br /> A possible new option on regionalization — or cooperating with adjacent <br /> communities — has been brought up. We are looking into how realistic it is <br /> and how much the MPCA will want us to consider this in the Facility Plan <br /> report. <br /> On the Rapid Infiltration Basin option, in looking further at the wastewater <br /> and permit requirements, we are coming to the conclusion we have to <br /> address total nitrogen in the wastewater before sending the effluent to the <br />
