We will assist the City in preparing a Request For Proposal from soil boring-geotechnical engineering firms, review the proposals, and assist the City in contracting directly with such a firm, if needed. 19. Review bids received and provide a Letter of Recommendation to the City, so that the City Council can award the construction Contract. 20. Issue a Notice of Award to the Contractor, and request bonds and insurance. 21. Review the Contractor’s bonds and insurance for conformity to the construction Contract, obtain signatures on the Agreement, and prepare conformed construction Contracts for the City, the Contractor, and our project files. 22. Send out invites, prepare an agenda, conduct the pre-construction meeting, and distribute minutes. 23. Coordinate, in conjunction with the Contractor and the City, with other utilities. 24. Review the Contractor’s schedules. 25. Review the Contractor’s shop drawings on materials to be incorporated into the work. 26. Establish horizontal and vertical control in the field for construction staking and for use by the Contractor. 27. Provide construction staking for sanitary sewer, watermain, storm drainage, roadway grading, and curb and gutter for the Contractor as specified in the construction documents. 28. Provide a construction observer. This person will coordinate with City Public Works Staff when they can observe construction. Due to the type of work and other Public Works Staff duties we anticipate our construction observer will be on-site 5 days a week for 10 hours a day over an estimated 4-week construction schedule. 29. Prepare agendas, conduct weekly on-site progress meetings (if deemed necessary), and distribute minutes. 30. Answer questions from the Contractor, and construction observer.
