PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DISTRICT <br />4638 Main Street - Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 <br />(218) 568-8201 Fax (218) 568-7672 <br />pequoffd@pequotlakes-mn.gov <br />District vehicles housed at the fire stations may be used by any firefighter for running <br />approved errands, district functions, or driving out of the district for fire district related <br />trainings or meetings. This approval may come from any officer. <br />Firefighters driving district vehicles must have a valid driver's license. In addition, to <br />respond in a take home or temporarily assigned vehicle in emergency mode, the driver <br />must have completed an emergency vehicle operations class which include a road <br />course in the last 5 years. <br />General Vehicle Use <br />1. District personnel shall comply with all traffic laws and regulations while operating <br />a district owned or issued vehicle. <br />2. Any vehicle not listed specifically as a take home or assigned vehicle shall not be <br />housed anywhere except for its assigned station. <br />3. District policy shall be zero tolerance. District personnel shall not consume any <br />quantity of alcohol or use illicit drugs before driving a district vehicle. Prescribed <br />or over the counter medications that affect cognitive or motor skills or that have <br />warnings about operating machinery shall be included in this zero -tolerance <br />policy. <br />4. District personnel shall operate the vehicle in a professional manner so as not to <br />bring discredit or embarrassment to the district. <br />5. All occupants must wear a seat belt while occupying a district vehicle. <br />6. Smoking is prohibited in all district owned vehicles. <br />7. District personnel will bring all issued PPE when operating a district owned <br />vehicle. <br />8. District vehicles must always maintain at least Y2 tank of fuel in take home and 3/ <br />tank fuel in station vehicles. <br />9. All occupants in district vehicles who are not employees of the district, <br />employees of the Cities of Pequot Lakes or Breezy Point, employees of another <br />governmental agency while working for that agency, or temporary occupants on <br />an emergency basis, shall complete and sign a liability waiver. This waiver must <br />be completed on an annual basis. <br />10. District vehicles used on a take-home or assigned basis should be housed in a <br />garage or other protective structure whenever possible. Vehicles should be <br />maintained as practicably as possible, in a state that is immediately ready for <br />service or use. <br />Adopted January 9, 2023 Page 2 of 4 <br />
