City Council Minutes <br />February 6, 2023 <br />Page 2 of 9 <br />4. Open Forum <br />Jeanie Haurum, 4208 Brown St, would like to have the old sidewalk along this <br />property removed. <br />5.1. Official City Flag <br />Jeannie Harum, 4208 Brown St, stated she would like to present the winner of <br />the flag competition with a gift basket and a signed certificate at the next Council <br />meeting. She said the winner tied in the school icon in his flag design. Discussion <br />ensued about the color of the lettering of the flag. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVED TO ADOPT THE OFFICIAL FLAG <br />FOR PEQUOT LAKES. COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />5.2. Splash Pad Update <br />Jenny Gonczy said the donor, MN Department of Health, and rules and <br />regulation signs were approved previously. She said they are getting ready to <br />purchase those signs and they are going to match existing signs. She discussed <br />the color schemes. Council consensus was to go ahead with the signs. <br />Mayor Gardner asked about the status of the pavers. Ms. Gonczy said they have <br />been delivered and are being engraved and will be installed in the spring by <br />Copper Creek. She stated they filled both benches. Mr. Spiczka stated Copper <br />creek is doing an in -kind donation for the installation of the pavers. <br />Mr. Spiczka said we don't have the specialized tools or the control box for the <br />splashpad yet. He said the City withheld final payment until the control box is <br />installed. Discussion ensued about inconsistent feedback from the vendor. Mr. <br />Spiczka stated the plumbing is worked out different then what the vendor is used <br />to, but they were the ones that hired the plumber. Council Member Ronning <br />volunteered to contact the vendor and obtaining a date of completion. <br />6. Planning and Zoning <br />6.1. Planning Commission Report <br />The January 23, 2022, Planning & Zoning minutes were received by Council. <br />6.2. Short -Term Rentals <br />Mayor Gardner reminded the Council the Cities short-term rental ordinance was <br />discarded and then the City was following the County's ordinance. He stated the <br />County rescinded their ordinance and implemented a new one. Jenny Peterson <br />explained that the County adopted an new ordinance under their land use <br />authority and it no longer applies to cities located in the County. She stated that <br />
