New Staff Hires <br /> <br />Mr. Spiczka states they have recently reviewed 39 applications for employment. <br />Staff recommend hiring Emily Johnson for Deputy Clerk/Administrative Assistant <br />and Traci Pederson for Zoning Specialist/Administrative Assistant. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO APPROVE THE HIRE OF EMILY <br />JOHNSON AS DEPUTY CLERK/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT AT GRADE <br />12, STEP 3. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO APPROVE AND HIRE TRACI <br />PEDERSON FOR ZONING SPECIALIST/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT AT <br />GRADE 12, STEP 3. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued about which role would be working with the police department <br />and how the duties would be split up between the city office and police <br />department office. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS SECONDED THE MOTIONS. MOTIONS CARRIED <br />4-0. <br /> <br />10.3. Budget Work Session Meeting <br /> <br />Mr. Spiczka proposes to schedule a work session to give staff the ability to have <br />discussions relating to the budget. He suggested October 16th, 2023. <br /> <br />MAYOR GARDNER MOVED TO SET A WORK SESSION MONDAY, <br />OCTOBER 16TH, 2023. COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />10.4. Closed Session-Pending Litigation- City of Pequot Lakes vs. Kate <br />Peterson/PERA in accordance with Minn.Stat. sec. 13D.05, subd. 3(a). <br /> <br />Mayor Gardner announced that this agenda item is for discussion of <br />pending litigation between the City of Pequot Lakes and Kate <br />Peterson/PERA. <br /> <br />Mayor Gardner further noted that only the officials and consultants of <br />the city who reasonably require access to this data may be in <br />attendance at any portion of the closed meeting for this agenda item. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS MOVED TO CLOSE THE MEETING <br />PURSUANT TO MINNESOTA STATUTES, SECTION 13D.05, <br />SUBDIVISION 3(a). COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />
