November 1, 2023 WiDSETH
Design, Bidding, and Construction Phase Services for
Main (Gravdahl) Lift Station and Forcemain Improvements
City of Pequot Lakes
Page 3
We will coordinate with your water and wastewater operator, Andy Schwartz. He has been
of great assistance already.
We will also use any appropriate attributes and information within the Geographic
Information System (GIS) that we assisted the City with and that the City has invested in.
Finally, if it is determined that we need additional locating of the existing forcemain, we will
coordinate on a scope of work and estimate of cost for the Council to consider as additional
services.
10. Compile all of the field and above data and prepare an overall existing conditions base map
drawing.
11. Soils borings and a geotechnical report are not part of our scope of work. However, we
recommend the City contract with a geotechnical engineering firm to provide this
information, both for design and in the bidding documents for the bidders and the selected
construction contractor to use.
We have included in our scope of work assisting the City in preparing a scope of work,
issuing Requests For Proposals (RFP's) to geotechnical engineering firms, obtaining quotes
from them, assisting the City in contracting directly with such a firm, and coordinating with
the firm during their work.
The City will need to work with property owners to assist the selected geotechnical
engineering firm in obtaining permission from landowners for access for soil borings.
Widseth's surveyors can locate the soil borings.
Most times this firm will also be involved later on in construction phase materials testing and
verification.
12. Our environmental professionals will conduct a field walk- through.
While maybe not as formal as this, we would expect a "letter of no impact ".
If there would be some kind of environmental issues noted, we will coordinate on a scope of
work and estimate of cost for the Council to consider as additional services.
13. Meet with appropriate City Staff (e.g., Andy Schwartz, Nick Roy) to review the existing
conditions of the LS and the FM along with proposed improvements.
Anticipated topics of discussion, and possible proposed improvements include, but will
probably not be limited to, the following:
• Discuss other lift stations. While this project's funding can only be used for the main
Gravdahl LS, it may be advantageous to include City funded improvements at the
other lift stations.
NAMarketing Dept\Proposals \00 Letter Proposals\2023 Letter Proposals\Pequot Lakes LS and FM\Pequot Lakes - LS and FM Design and Construction
- 20231101.docx
