6.2. Short-Term Rentals <br /> Mayor Gardner reminded the Council the Cities short-term rental ordinance <br /> was discarded and then the City was following the County's ordinance. He <br /> stated the County rescinded their ordinance and implemented a new one. <br /> Jenny Peterson explained that the County adopted an new ordinance under <br /> their land use authority and it no longer applies to cities located in the <br /> County. She stated that cities now need to implement their own plan with <br /> short-term rentals. She said the Planning Commission moved to allow <br /> outright, do not regulate short-term rentals, and allow without a permit. <br /> Discussion ensued that there are still ordinances against noise and other <br /> things that need to be followed and the revenue these rentals bring into the <br /> City. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED TO ALLOW SHORT-TERM <br /> RENTALS OUTRIGHT AND TO NOT REGULATE SHORT-TERM <br /> RENTALS AND ALLOW WITHOUT A PERMIT. MAYOR GARDNER <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Mr. Spiczka stated from a staff perspective to allow a free permit to enable to <br /> the City to be able to get a hold of the owners if there is an issue. Mayor <br /> Gardner said he does not think we would get half of the people to come in <br /> and give us information. Discussion ensued about a permit and noise <br /> ordinances. <br /> Eric Larson 28393 Mayo Hills addressed the Council. He stated that it is a <br /> positive having short-term rentals in the City and it increases tax base. He <br /> does not see the need to overregulate. Discussion ensued if a relative was in <br /> a home would we contact the homeowner, and it would be the same with a <br /> short-term rental. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 3-1. COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING OPPOSED. <br /> 7. Fire <br /> 7.1. Fire District Report <br /> The December 2022 and January 2023 Fire District Board Activity Report <br /> and 2023 Budget potential adjustments were received by the Council. <br /> 8. Police <br /> 8.1 Police Department Report <br /> The December 2022 and January 2023 Police Department Monthly Reports were <br /> received by Council. <br />
