8.2 Police Officer Hire <br /> The Police Department recently completed a hiring process to fill the officer <br /> spot vacated by Chief Davis being named Chief of Police. Chief Davis is <br /> recommending two officers for hire: Masen Barton as a Full Time Officer at <br /> Step One on the Union scale. Jennifer Strack as a Part Time Officer at PT <br /> Officer Rate. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVED TO APPROVE TO HIRE MASEN <br /> BARTON AS A FULL-TIME OFFICER AT STEP ONE OF THE UNION SCALE <br /> AND JENNIFER STRACK AS A PART-TIME OFFICER AT THE PART-TIME <br /> OFFICER RATE. COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 8.3 Approval of Legal Services Agreement <br /> Mr. Spiczka explained that the dates on the agreement are incorrect but all <br /> the other information is correct. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO APPROVE THE LEGAL <br /> SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR SEVERSON AND PORTER FOR <br /> PROSECUTION SERVICES FOR 2023 WITH THE $280 OR 2.5% <br /> INCREASE WITH THE DATES ADJUSTED TO THE CORRECT DATES. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 9. Public Works <br /> 9.1. Public Works Report <br /> The January 2023 Public Works report was received by Council. Mayor <br /> Gardner asked about the truck that was having electrical issues and Nick <br /> Roy stated the truck is good now. <br /> 9.2. Patriot Avenue Redesign <br /> Mr. Spiczka stated he would like a firm direction for Widseth. <br /> Mayor Gardner requested keeping it cheap for now until the road is redone. <br /> He said to stripe on the west side of the road and parking on the east side of <br /> the road. Council Member Pederson asked why wait to rebuild and <br /> suggested making in useable and safer sooner than later. He said it adds the <br /> parking that is needed and makes it safer with crosswalks. Discussion <br /> ensued about diagonal parking with a safe zone behind the vehicle. <br /> Council Member Clement asked if something could even be done quickly. <br /> Discussion ensued about bump outs and chip sealing. Tim Houle said the <br /> time frame that chip sealing last depends on traffic, winter and other factors. <br />
