EDUCATION <br /> Providing students and the community with the skills to walk and bicycle safely, <br /> educating them about benefits of walking and bicycling, and teaching them about the <br /> broad range of transportation choices. <br /> Goal 1: Provide education on winter walking safety. <br /> PRIORITY: Low <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Provide education on winter walking safety. <br /> WHY IS THIS RELEVANT? <br /> To promote safety for students in winter conditions on icy or poorly maintained sidewalks and curbs,cold <br /> weather,and low light conditions with shorter days. <br /> WHO WILL MAKE THIS HAPPEN? <br /> School staff,Law Enforcement and volunteers. <br /> HOW WILL THIS ADDRESS EQUITY? <br /> It will be an inclusive strategy to get more students walking and biking to and from school when it is safe to do so <br /> by providing equal access to safe bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. <br /> Goal 2: Provide general education for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrian safety rules <br /> of the road by expanding on bike safety rules of the road. <br /> PRIORITY: Low <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Provide general education for drivers,bicyclists,and pedestrian safety rules of the road by expanding on bike <br /> safety rules of the road. <br /> WHY IS THIS RELEVANT? <br /> To promote safety for students and a culture of walking and biking. <br /> WHO WILL MAKE THIS HAPPEN? <br /> School staff,TZD Coalition,SHIP Coordinator,Law Enforcement and volunteers. <br /> HOW WILL THIS ADDRESS EQUITY? <br /> It will be an inclusive strategy to get more students walking and biking to and from school when it is safe to do so <br /> that could provide education in different languages or modes that are more relevant to priority populations. <br /> Goal 3: Consider using Minnesota's Walk!Bike!Fun! curriculum training for <br /> educators, community members, and students. <br /> PRIORITY: Low <br /> 34 I Minnesota Safe Routes to School <br />
