With the change
in days of the week, I am trying to adjust my normal monthly schedule. Our Mike Rude,
though, said he would be present. Just in case I am not present, and so as not to leave Mike
Rude out on a limb, I have prepared an Engineer's Report.
Pequot Lakes City Council meeting
Thursday, November 6, 2008
Engineer's Report
I really do not have any specific action items the Council absolutely needs to address.
However, I would like to update the City on several things we have done this last month.
1. Last month, I reviewed with the Council an Agreement that I had reviewed with the
School's Building and Grounds Committee on acquiring some permanent easement from the
School for continuation of the South Oak Street improvements.
It was my understanding that the Committee was recommending approval of this Agreement to
the School Board.
The Council approved this Agreement, pending School Board approval.
I have been trading phone message with the School Superintendent, Mr. Linnell. Mr. Linnell
got back in touch with me and said that the Building and Grounds Committee is recommending
approval contingent on the City working with the School on a marquee sign (I believe along the
Hwy 371 corridor).
He said the School Board will have time on the agenda at their Monday, November 17th
meeting on this Agreement. I will be there to answer any questions on behalf of the City.
I anticipate this Agreement, once acceptable to both parties, will then be formatted by the
Attorney for signatures.
I understood at last month's meeting that you agreed with the proposed conditions and cost
sharing. I know I brought up this issue of the sign at last month's Council meeting. I
believe signs need to go through planning and zoning. Does the Council agree with all of this?
If not (if the sign issue is too much to accept right now), I am concerned about time. We need
access to an easement or R/W. If this easement discussion is going to drag on with the School
for another month or two, we will run out of time. I do not like talking about this, but the Council
really needs to conclude this so if they need to go through eminent domain, which takes time,
11/5/2008
