Park Commission Minutes <br /> November 4,2021 <br /> Page 3 <br /> Council Member Scott Pederson said there is a lot of excitement over the project <br /> and he also thinks the non-property tax funds will come very easily. He said the <br /> maintenance costs are undetermined at this point and discussed using franchise <br /> fees in the future for these costs. He also discussed the park dedication funds <br /> and stated that those funds can only be used for certain projects. <br /> Kim Churack asked at what point will the contractor be given the green light. The <br /> Mayor stated once approximately the total of$188,000 is earned and there is <br /> already approximately$69,000 that is in the bucket already. Ms. Peterson <br /> informed the Park Board that due to the cost of the project the City will have to go <br /> out for bids for the project. Discussion ensued about the insurance costing only <br /> around $1,500 per year. <br /> Chair Johnson asked if there was a design and location and Mayor Gardner <br /> explained that has already been approved. Discussion ensued about the location <br /> of the splashpad. Mr. Pederson said he thinks a Splash Pad Committee would <br /> help with the decision making and he would like an Engineer involved on the <br /> committee. The Board talked about potential members for the committee and Ms. <br /> Peterson said she will email the members discussed to get their input. <br /> Jennifer Gonczy said one of the things the Brainerd splash pad did to save <br /> money is pavers that people can buy to dedicated to people. Discussion ensued <br /> about potential fundraising and sponsorship ideas. <br /> 10. Adjournment <br /> There being no further business, COMISSIONER CHURACK MOVED TO <br /> ADJOURN THE MEETING.
