He said before the end of the <br /> year, he would like to help the City narrow down what their vision is. <br /> Chair Lottman reminded the Commission of the goals from 2021: workforce <br /> housing, Pequot Lakes Incentive Program, marketing of the Heart of the <br /> Good Life, Welcoming Community Advocacy Group process, and utilizing <br /> BLADEC's knowledge. Chair Lottman stated Tyler Glynn of BLAEDC has <br /> done a good job of working with Heart of the Good Life and what BLAEDC <br /> can do for Pequot Lakes. <br /> Chair Lottman discussed the goal of breaking ground on three projects in <br /> Heart of the Good Life interior lots. Discussion ensued that movement is <br /> happening on in the HOGTL and there are several "things in the works", <br /> specifically commercial projects that could be very valuable. <br /> Chair Lottman gave an update on the goal of re-defining the HRA. He said <br /> there have been several meetings on the HRA and what it was doing for <br /> the community and if it can be influenced in a positive way. He said the <br /> HRA was brought up at the recent P8Z meeting where Council member <br /> Pederson stated this an issue for Mayor Gardner, as he is the HRA Liaison <br /> this year. Chair Lottman stated that the EDC can offer help to Mayor <br /> Gardner if he needs it. Angie Duus stated that there will be a special <br /> Council meeting next week to discuss HRA's levy and the Commission <br /> members are welcome to attend. <br /> Chair Lottman stated the goal of separating the maximum amount of land <br /> from Heart of the Good Life to be redefined for housing is in the hands of <br /> the City Council at this point. <br /> He discussed accountability of us as a commission and their role to submit <br /> recommendations to City Council. He said they had a goal of submitting six <br /> recommendations in 2022 and they have only done one. He said he would <br /> like to focus on the goal. <br /> He talked about the goal to get involved and help support the Council with <br /> informing the community of potential building sites/incentive programs, to <br /> identity interior lots, and contact owners by August 1, 2022. He stated that <br /> there was an informative meeting with the County Assessor. Mark Jurchen <br /> added that the purchase of the lot behind the library by Friends of the <br /> Library is going to do a lot in setting a precedence on lower value lots. <br /> Chair Lottman said the goal to increase Pequot's tax base is gone. He <br /> would like an updated goal sheet for 2023 and go through the current goal <br /> sheet at the December meeting. He encouraged Kurt Stumpf to contact the <br /> EDC if there is anything they can do to help benefit the School District since <br /> they have a goal to support the school district. He thanked Mr. Stumpf for <br /> coming to the meetings and providing updates every month. Discussion <br /> ensued about student intemships. Chair Lottman would like to discuss the <br /> goal to encourage the City to bring in new businesses in other business. <br />
