Chamber Update <br /> Angie Duus read the update provided by Nichole Heinen, Pequot Lakes Chamber <br /> Director: <br /> • New recognition event for Pequot Lakes and the surrounding area is <br /> scheduled for January 12th at the Pequot Lakes American Legion <br /> • Bobber on Ice will be back at Sibley Lake again on February 11, 2023 <br /> • Explore Pequot Lakes meetings are going well. They meet the last <br /> Wednesday of every month from 7:45-9:00 a.m. This month's meeting is <br /> at Savi Skin Studio <br /> • The school and Breezy Point Council forum is schedule for October 6, <br /> 2022, at Eagle View Elementary in the upper gym <br /> 6. Workforce Housing Update <br /> Mark Jurchen said has been monitoring some on-going projects. He stated he <br /> was very encouraged after attending a P&Z meeting. He gave an update about <br /> current housing activity in the City. There are several homes being built. He said <br /> on Lilac Ave., P&Z approved a conditional use permit for Timber Builders to <br /> construct multi-family homes. This will include a four-plex and a duplex. <br /> He also said there is new construction on West Grove Street, Pine Street and <br /> Spruce Street. He said the Heart of the Good Life for multi-family dwellings (65 <br /> units)conditional use permit was approval by the P&Z. He said it will be on <br /> agenda for Council approval on October 3, 2022. Discussion ensued about the <br /> positives of this dwelling for the City. <br /> Mr. Jurchen stated Colton Maher is looking at a ten-home development in the <br /> $350,000-450,000 range, that is being considered on CR 11 across from the Fire <br /> Tower. He said there is a need for re-zoning and a formal proposal to allow the <br /> development. <br /> Mr. Jurchen would like to meet with some of the contractors about upcoming <br /> projects, including the contractor who purchased the Edward Jones building. He <br /> stated we should continue to spread the word about development opportunities. <br /> Discussion ensued about building different types of housing. <br /> 7. 2022 Project Goals <br /> Chair Lottman said the first goal is to assist the City with their vision to <br /> provide community service that help enhance and continue traditions of <br /> being a great place to live, work and play. He stated as a commission, we <br /> have been very focused on Heart of the Good Life and although it has been <br /> time consuming, it has been a good thing to focus on. He would like to <br /> encourage the commission to look at other goals and business in the city. <br /> He stated when he went to the P&Z meeting, they were very willing to listen <br /> and work on re-zoning and variances.
