Mr. Jurchen asked for the EDC Commissions consensus to invite the contractors to the May meeting. He suggested having about 35 contractors who could be contacted. Mr. Jurchen discussed areas and lots in the city that could potentially be redeveloped. He explained the lot sizes, tax base and potential housing that could be put on these lots. He discussed contacting property owners about selling or developing these lots. Discussion ensued about development of Trailside Estates. Mr. Jurchen suggested publishing information in the paper and using social media about the housing need in the City. Discussion ensued about housing shortage and HUD housing at the school. The EDC Commission discussed inviting contractors to May's meeting. Council Member Scott Pederson asked if the City Council has been informed of this information yet and Commissioner Lelwica and Chair Lottman explained this is still in the planning stage and once the commission has more concrete information they will bring it to the Council. Discussion ensued about contacting contractors for the May meeting. 7. 2022 Project Goals Chair Lottman reminded the commission of the goal to submit six things to City Council and that it is April and they have not presented anything yet. Council Member Pederson stated the Council is open to ideas and potentially updating ordinances. 8. BLAEDC Update No update given. 8.A. Destination Downtown No update given. 9. City of Jenkins Update Jon Lubke stated on April 21st they are doing a community social and one of their Council Members takes the lead on that. He said they are working with Region Five for and energy grant. He stated they were also able to get money through Sourcewell. He stated they are looking to do several community projects which includes sponsoring a spring cleanup and energy projects for the park. Commissioner Lubke also stated that they are working with Jenkins township and Ideal township to do a buildout of their broadband and putting out a RFP. He stated the County is willing to use ARPA funds for this project. 10. Other Business Mr. Jurchen gave an update about the Library smart room and the use of ARPA funds.
