RESOLUTION 08-24 ACCEPTING CONTRIBUTIONS FROM <br /> JULY 25, 2008 THROUGH AUGUST 15, 2008 <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 4. Open Forum <br /> Tim Keene, resident of Jenkins Township stated that he is aware that <br /> letters have been sent to the Council in support of the annexation. He <br /> stated that his group put together a survey and brought it around to <br /> township residents. He indicated they received 223 signatures — 1 vote for <br /> annexation to the City of Jenkins, 10 votes for annexation to the City of <br /> Pequot Lakes and the balance to remain as a township. Mr. Keene asked <br /> for an indication as to which way the Council will be voting. Mayor <br /> Malecha indicated that the Council was not ready to make a decision at <br /> this time. <br /> Ray Steffens, resident of Jenkins Township — Silver Sands Road, <br /> addressed the Council about the reasons why it would be best for the City <br /> of Pequot Lakes to annex the Township. He suggested that the City of <br /> Pequot Lakes pursue a friendly annexation with Jenkins Township. <br /> 5.1. Economic Development Committee <br /> Nancy Adams representing the EDC spoke to the Council regarding the <br /> Committee's feelings on the need for a facility plan. She explained that <br /> there is a need for more business/industrial park land as all of the City- <br /> owned land has been sold. In order to allow development to occur on the <br /> present spray irrigation land, a facility plan would have to be done to <br /> consider re-locating the spray irrigation facilities or to consider another <br /> method of disposing the City's wastewater. She indicated that the EDC <br /> would like to begin the planning process for industrial/business park <br /> expansion and is requesting support from the City Council. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO PROCEED WITH THE <br /> FACILITY PLAN. COUNCIL MEMBER ORASKOVICH SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. <br /> Council Member Ryan stated that the sewer fund is low in revenues and <br /> that the money to do the facility study is not available. He indicated that he <br /> does not feel the timing is right. <br />
