APPOINTMENT OF EVERETT JOHNSON TO THE PARK <br /> BOARD TO REPLACE VACANCY LEFT BY DEL ANDERSON — <br /> TERM TO EXPIRE ON 12/31/2010 <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 4. Open Forum <br /> Tim Keene indicated that he represents a majority of the people of Jenkins <br /> Township. He stated that a meeting was recently held with approximately <br /> 75 people in attendance. He stated that those present have contacted an <br /> attorney to take legal action to stop the annexation. Mr. Keene requested <br /> the Council to delay the process for the annexation to Pequot Lakes to <br /> give the group more time to research the issue. <br /> Mike Dubay stated that there seems to be a communication problem. He <br /> indicated that the township residents don't feel the people have been <br /> informed and that they don't have enough information. <br /> 5.0. Representative Howes <br /> �.. Representative Howes questioned the Council about the delay in the <br /> Highway 371 project. He asked the Council if they would like him to <br /> research this. The Council indicated that they would like him to look into <br /> the issue. Mr. Howes asked if the tax bill affected the City's LGA. The <br /> Clerk noted that it was probably staying the same or would be slightly <br /> reduced. Council Member Nagel questioned him about the school tax <br /> situation. Mr. Howes indicated that it is not working and it is not fair. <br /> 5.1. Economic Development Committee Update <br /> Ed Larsen updated the Council on the progress of the Economic <br /> Development Committee. He indicated that the present project has been <br /> to consider the future of the existing business park and look at a possible <br /> expansion of the park. He stated that the committee has studied the long <br /> term future expansion of the park and have concluded that best alternative <br /> is to use the existing spray irrigation field for a future business park. He <br /> noted that the topography is good and the land will be accessible which <br /> ever direction the highway goes. Ed further stated that it is the <br /> recommendation of the Economic Development Committee that the City <br /> Council complete a facilities study for the long term direction of the <br /> wastewater treatment facility. He indicated that the Economic <br /> Development Committee does not believe the irrigation field is highest and <br />
