PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 3, 2008 MEETING <br /> The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 26 members <br /> were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved by a motion by <br /> Mike Peterson, second by Evenson, motion passed. <br /> Truck and equipment checks were discussed. Engine 1 and 2 were all good. The gas <br /> monitor from Engine 2 is being repaired. Engine 3 was not checked. Water Tender 1 is <br /> being serviced. Tankers 1, 2, and 3 were all good. Tanker 2 did have an empty gas can <br /> Rescue 1 is missing its set of jumper cables and the purple K extinguisher is back after <br /> being re-charged. Rescue 2 was good. Grass 1 pump engine did not start. Grass 2 is all <br /> OK, except the radio speakers may need to be replaced. We tried to figure out a place to <br /> move the ladders from Engine 3 to other trucks, but no final decisions are done yet. Neil <br /> has a committee working on the issue. <br /> The fire budget balance is about $98,000 tonight. Our checking financial report started <br /> with the chokecherry pancake breakfast report. We served 303 people and sold 26 quarts <br /> of syrup. Our expenses were $430.00 for food supplies and $294.75 for the chokecherry <br /> syrup. Our profit for the event was $1628.25. Our checking balance tonight is $14648.51. <br /> During the month we paid bills of$196.00 for Volunteer Firemen's Benefit Association, <br /> $110.00 for the portable toilets for the pancake breakfast, $204.00 for 68 used chairs <br /> from the Grace Methodist Church, and $35.50 for pop. Deposits made during the month <br /> were $$49.00 for syrup sales, $54.00 for the scholarship fund, and $2304.00 from the <br /> chokecherry breakfast. Loven motioned to transfer$500.00 from the July 4th pancake <br /> breakfast to the scholarship fund, second by Zeimet, motion passed. Our new balance for <br /> the scholarship fund is $1800.65. Bills for payment were $26.09 for a wheel cleaning <br /> brush and wheel cleaner. Mike Peterson motioned to pay that bill, second by Loven, <br /> motion passed. Peterson II motioned to purchase a new popcorn maker. The motion was <br /> not seconded, but a decision to get price estimates for one was made. Wasserbauer <br /> motioned to approve the financial report, second by Peterson II, motion passed. <br /> Ideal fire department is sponsoring a fishing contest on the Whitefish chain on Sunday, <br /> September 14th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Registration is $50.00 per team. If you are <br /> interested, report to the Bertha Boat access by 8:45 am on that Sunday for the rules and <br /> registration. <br /> The safety topic tonight is some reminders for auto extrication. Always wear rubber <br /> gloves for any potential bloody rescue situation, put your helmet visor down to prevent <br /> body fluids from getting in your eyes, and take small bites if your are operating the Hurst <br /> tool. <br /> The repairs are done on Engine 1. New led light panels have been installed and the valve <br /> has been repaired. The air conditioner has also been re-charged. <br />
