Clerk's August Staff Report Page 2 of 2 Economic Development Committee The EDC met on august 19th. The minutes have been included in your Council Packet. Projects Annexation • A joint annexation meeting was held with the City of Pequot Lakes, The City of Jenkins, and Jenkins Township. The purpose of the meeting was to give the Pequot Lakes City Council information on the annexation. No conclusion was drawn from the meeting. Police Union • On August 18, 2008, a Union Meeting was held to continue discussions on the union contract. The Council will be reviewing the agreement during a closed session on September 11th. Budgets—2009 • The Council reviewed the preliminary budgets at a special Council Meeting on August 12th. The Council made some cuts to the budget and several budget amendments. These changes have been made and will be presented to the Council on September 2. The Council will be asked to set a preliminary levy at the September 2nd meeting. Cole Memorial Buildinz • The Council authorized the Clerk's office to redraft the lease between the Historical Society and the City. This lease is being reviewed by Paul Sandelin. Once the lease is redrafted,we will begin working on a plan for use of the main floor of the Cole Memorial Building. Elections • Filing for Council opened on August 26th.Names of those who have filed are public information. Filing will remain open through September 9th at 5:00 p.m. • Jeanyne and I have attended election judge training at the Council on August 4 and August 7. All Election Judges have also attended the classes. • Jeanyne and I have begun preparing for the Primary Election. TIF • TIF District 1-4—Landecker will be decertified on September 16th.
