Purchase of Police Service Vehicle <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO TAKE THE MOTION FROM <br />THE TABLE TO CONSIDER THE PURCHASE OF A 2013 CHEVY <br />TAHOE. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED TO ACCEPT THE POLICE <br />CHIEF'S REQUEST TO USE THE FUNDS BUDGETED AS <br />PRESENTED IN THE COUNCIL MEMO TO PURCHASE A 2013 <br />CHEVROLET TAHOE FROM DONDELINGER CHEVROLET AT <br />$31,012. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />Council Member Gardner indicated his concern of purchasing a new <br />vehicle that is not being used as a patrol vehicle. Council discussion <br />pursued regarding the need for a 4 wheel drive. Officer Ryan stated that <br />the vehicle would be used as a patrol vehicle if an officer on patrol needed <br />it due to inclement weather. <br />Council Member Akerson stated that he has a problem with a black <br />vehicle. <br />MOTION CARRIED 3 -2. COUNCIL MEMBERS AKERSON AND <br />GARDNER VOTED AGAINST THE MOTION. <br />Council Member Pederson requested to make a statement regarding the <br />Police Department. He noted that the Council recently adopted a police <br />budget which allocates funds to the Department and that they have also <br />approved a 3 -year union contract in support of the officers. Council <br />Member Pederson stated that he would like to publicly show support to the <br />Department and to publicly thank them for the job that they do. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED THAT THERE BE NO <br />INQUIRY OF ANY KIND OR DISCUSSIONS REGARDING REPLACING <br />THE DEPARTMENT WITH THE COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT <br />OR ANY OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY. COUNCIL MEMBER <br />SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4 -1. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON OPPOSED. <br />8.4. Purchase of Ammunition <br />
