Jim Oraskovich and Cathy Malecha were given 53 complaints by the Concerned <br /> Citizens Group. <br /> Some of these were for COUNCIL ONLY and the rest went to Chief Braam <br /> Jim Oraskovich and Cathy Malecha went through the complaints that were for <br /> COUNCIL ONLY. We did this according to city attorney, Paul Sandelin's direction. <br /> We could give a brief description to the Council without using any names. <br /> This is due to data privacy issues and a closed meeting. <br /> Of the total complaints: <br /> 1 person submitted 3 complaints <br /> 1 person submitted 22 complaints <br /> 1 person submitted a P&Z complaint <br /> Of the total complaints 24 were given to Chief Braam. <br /> Some of the complaints had previously been addressed and still were submitted as new <br /> complaints. <br /> 1-DWI-Individual requested the tape from the traffic stop and was told it was not <br /> available to them and thought the stop was not taped. All stops are taped. The police <br /> cannot release a tape directly to the individual as it is considered evidence. A copy of <br /> the tape must be requested through discover in court, by their defense attorney. The <br /> dept. holds in evidence all in-squad videotapes and CD recordings of intoxilyzer tests. <br /> 6-Coments about city being "Over policed" <br /> Facts: 94-99 3 FT and up to 3 PT at any given time for an area of 1 sq. mile <br /> 00-01 4 FT and 2 PT, still for 1 sq. mile <br /> 2002 5 FT for 1 sq mile (before orderly annexation of Sibley Township) <br /> 03-06 5 FT(& 2 PT in 06)for Pequot and City of Jenkins(24 sq. miles total) <br /> 1/1-8/31/07 5 FT& 2 PT for Pequot and City of Jenkins, Jenkins Township <br /> 9;1/07-current 6 FT& 2 PT for Pequot, City of Jenkins, Jenkins Township <br /> (12 sq.m0 &full time School Resource Office (total 36 sq.miles) <br /> Part-time officers are used in some instances, saves money, lower hourly wage, no <br /> benefits given. <br /> 1-Quoted the city as paying $40,000 for Harley and$500,000 budget. Harley Davidson <br /> had a program where they gave Harleys to Police Dept.for$1.00 a month. We are <br /> under that program. The$500,000 budget of the police dept is off-set by yearly <br /> contracts with the school, City of Jenkins and Jenkins Township for$103,816 per year <br /> (2008 budget) new contracts negotiated every year. <br /> 1-Multiple officers at lunch at Giovanni's-this was already looked into by Jim and <br /> Cathy earlier this year and reported back to the person who commented at this time. <br />
