WASTEWATER
I. Facility Performance:
a. CBOD Concentration
Influent — mg/1 (Design — 250 mg/1)
Effluent — mg/1
b. TSS Concentration
Influent — mg/1 (No Design Listed)
Effluent — mg/1
c. Effluent Fecal Coliform Geometric Mean — organisms/100 ml
Permit Condition — 200 organims/100 ml
d. Flow - Average Daily Flow — 64,786 gallons (Design — 121,795 gal/day)
Maximum Daily Flow — 85,008 gallons
Minimum Daily Flow — 53,130 gallons
Total Monthly Flow— 1,814,010 gallons (as of the 28th)
II. Operations and Maintenance:
• The monthly MPCA Discharge Monitoring Report was completed and submitted as
required.
• All 8 monitoring wells around the ponds and spray irrigation site were all field-tested
and samples were collected and sent off for analysis as required by our permit.
• A student from St. Cloud interned here for 7 days to learn what is comprised in our job.
Tina was able to show him how sewer jetting was done and several blocks were
completed.
• Began evaluating all irrigation equipment and found several things that will need to be
addressed. Three towers will need to be fixed or replaced at an approximate cost of
$200-$300 per tower. Several wheel bearing gear boxes were found deficient of
lubrication or the oil needs replacing. After pricing out the correct lubrication and for
these gear units, will need to order a bulk quantity for best pricing and a pump to refill
the gearboxes. ($615.00 for oil & approximately $40.00 for hand barrel pump).
Serviced all irrigation pumps.
• On the 28th, service was performed at all lift stations by Electric pump. Their report
concluded that two pumps would need seals replaced. One at the Main Lift and the
other at the UBC lift station. Because we have also been experiencing problems at the
Brown & Heath lift station with one of the pumps not pumping when called for in the
alternating mode and that the circuit board at this lift station is so outdated that parts are
not accessible any longer, a new controller could be installed at a minimal cost. A cost
of these items will be itemized and at that time will determine what will have to be
done.
• Completed 15 work orders.
Report Submitted By: Gary Giltner
Water/Wastewater Supervisor
City of Pequot Lakes
