City of
Pequot
COUNCIL REPORT
Application: Amend Comprehensive Plan to revise Future Land
Use Map
Applicant: City of Pequot Lakes
Background Information: At the September Planning Commission Meeting
potential future residential development along County Road 11 was discussed.
The Future Land Use Map (contained in the comprehensive plan) identifies the
County Road 11 corridor located east of the highway to Breezy Point as
Agriculture and Rural Residential which are generally low density/intensity
development classifications.
The comprehensive plan is intended to guide future development for next 15-20
years. If the city intends for the County Road 11 corridor to develop with higher
density residential development the future land use map should be modified. At
this time, there are no plans to extend city sewer/water infrastructure through
the corridor so future residential lots should be appropriately sized to
accommodate subsurface sewage treatment systems and private wells.
Future Land Use
Pequot Lakes,MN
Agriculture
Commercial
Downtown Mixed-Use ►
=Forest Preservation
Light Industrial ' .,f• i.
E:.`. This area is currently designated for commercial and rural
residential development.
Council Report 1
November 7,2022
