Terri shared that we had 134 children participate, 40 of which completed the program. This exceeded pre-COVID numbers. This year's programs featured activities and information on Minnesota, its history and geography. The costs of the program is increasing and a donation of$1,000 was received from the Pelican Lake Conservation Club for 2023's program. The day will be changed to Tuesdays from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. This will coordinate programs with day care providers and the library's "Story Time" on Wednesdays which will now be held at 10:30AM. 2023's theme will center on Wellness and Fitness and various programs and presenters are in the process of being arranged such as introductions to Yoga,Zumba, a nurse and dietician, and possibly characters from the Shrek production scheduled for next summer. Other Special Events and Programs: Terri continued to share some other events and programs which include featuring Bob the Magician on December 10th for Santas Bobbin Into Town, Halloween at the Library with Terri in costume and Jenny Moe passing out candy, and the Red Book Shelf at Speedway which Nancy donates books to from the library. Lot Purchase behind the Library: Nancy announced to the board that the Friends of the Library had purchased the lot behind and to the west of the library for future expansion and outdoor programs and activities. Collaboration with the 4-H, Master Gardeners, and other groups on utilization of the lot will be undertaken. Calendar on Web: The board briefly discussed the coordination of the use of the meeting room and other facilities with a calendar and various forms on the web page. It was a consensus at this time to leave the contact in person and over the phone to make sure the system is working efficiently prior to digitalizing it. Budget Committee for 2023: Mark will call a budget committee meeting to establish the 2023 budget the first week of October. Linda, Nancy, Mark, and Stacey will serve on the committee. Board of Director Residence Requirements: Mark shared that,with the board's blessing, he would approach the council to allow Cass County residents to serve on the board.
