PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 2, 2008 MEETING
-- The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 26 members
were present.
Larson motioned we accept the last meetings minutes without reading them, second by
Wendt, motion passed.
Truck and equipment checks were discussed. The ATV has been missing a ratchet strap
to secure it to the trailer. Jeremie has a strap that can be used for it. Everything else was
OK. Engine 2 was all OK. The water level was low in the tank. The gas powered vent fan
started just fine by following the instructions on the unit. Tanker 2 and grass truck 2 were
all OK. Engine 1 and Engine 3 were good. There was a small wire cutter missing from
the crash kit on Engine 1, which really is not there and will be corrected on the check
sheet. Water tender 1 was good. Tanker 1 has a leaky in line fuel filter which should be
replaced. Tanker 3's back-up alarm does not work and should be checked. Rescue 1 and
2 were good. There were two orange lanterns on Rescue 2 with bad chargers. The air
system in city hall has no air dryer and there seems to be a lot of water in the lines. The
Chief will talk to Mike about that.
The financial report lists our new checking balance at $7590.74. During the month we
purchased pop for$21.30, paid $25.00 for Cuyuna Range meeting registrations at Pine
River, and paid $19.80 for a case of foam cups. The scholarship fund balance is
$1467.47. The fire fund balance is approximately $40,000, with all 2007 contracts paid.
We received a donation from Craig and Claire Nagel in the amount of$100.00 for our
good service to our community.
Jeremie motioned we purchase a$50.00 gas card for Bob and Mary Peterson to help them
with expenses since their daughter was hurt in last Sunday's motor vehicle accident. His
motion was second by Oaks, motion passed unanimous. Jeremie also mentioned that Ken
Frederick, a Pine River fire fighter and an employee of North Ambulance, has a brain
tumor that has been removed and will be receiving chemo treatments. He motioned we
send him $100.00 to help him and his family, second by Oaks, motion passed unanimous.
The safety issue tonight is to really watch and be aware of the orange high voltage wire in
hybrid cars, since last Sunday's accident/rescue was our first involving one of these
hybrid vehicles.
OLD BUSINESS: The garage door timers will be installed January 9th. Our next training
will be the pump training class by Emergency Apparatus at 6:00 pm on January l6th. If
we want certificates, they will cost $5.00 each. Fire fighter II classes will start at Ideal
fire station Monday, January 7th, at 7:00 pm. This will be the organization meeting to
plan dates and times for classes. We should not need to purchase books, as we have
several copies.
NEW BUSINESS: St. Cloud Tech will sponsor hybrid car training classes on Saturday,
January 12th. Classes would be six hours and cost $35.00 for each fire fighter. There is a
possibility we could have this class here at our station in the near future. We will check to
see if this would be possible.
The relief association officers plan our annual meeting for February 6th at 6:00 pm.
