For the most part, the City collects application fees for this work. In 2007, for work that
required public hearings, the City collected $7,000. This compares to $9,485 in 2006,
and over $12,000 in 2005.
The Community Growth Institute also tracks and bills for work that has not been
budgeted for. This work includes things that are not predictable or commonplace. This
typically includes violations and applications that take longer than one month to
process. As per City policy, these expenses can be directly recouped from the applicants.
In 2007, the City was billed for $13,461.10 in extra expenses. These are broken down as
follows:
Project Total
Dan Helblin_ $862.50
Darrell and Gloria Lake $315.50
Hi: wa 371 Stud Grou. $11,255.35
Ordinance U.date $138.00
Park Board $143.00
Sly Ordinance Discussion $746.75
Total $13,461.1 0
Planning and Zoning services provided by the Community Growth Institute have
historically been on an as-needed basis. The Planning and Zoning Staff is able to adjust
its efforts as the workload decreases, and likewise when it increases. This flexibility has
worked well in years past, ensuring that routine expenses are kept below budget, while
at the same time enabling staff to meet unforeseen needs.
CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING AND ZONING 2007 REPORT
9
