April 27,2022 WIDSETH
Patriot Avenue Real Traffic Temporary Test Section
City of Pequot Lakes
Page 2
6. There would also be a public education component. It would be centered around a figure
with three cross sections on it.
One cross section would be a photo taken above street level with a drone of the existing
road from south looking north.
A second cross section would be a photo taken above street level with a drone from south
looking north right after the temporary features had been installed. We would then take that
photo and add verbiage describing what each of the temporary features represents(e.g.
curb and gutter)
A third cross section would be a rendering of the first photo of what a future finished
improvement might look like (concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, a bump-out with a
crosswalk, etc.).
Widseth would prepare the graphics for this figure.
This figure could then be placed on a Board (4'x 8' ?)on either end of this temporary test
section (although, it would be from south looking north), placed on the City's website, be
included in mailings by the Chamber or other organizations, or distributed in whatever ways
the City so desires.
Schedule
The Council would review the two sketches and provide direction at the June 7th meeting.
Public Works could then start to implement the selected temporary test section (we may
possibly be able to facilitate coordination with Alexandria Public Works staff to see if they still
have any of the components they used that Pequot Lakes might be able to use).
The idea would be for it to stay in place from before just before July 4th to around the end of
September—being"real traffic"tested by summer visitors, residents, park goers, and school
traffic.
Cost
Our lump sum fee to provide the above items is $6,650.
While not included in our proposal, if the City so desired as part of the public outreach effort,we
could provide in the future the option of putting together a video. It might only be a minute in
length, and it could feature the above"three cross sections" in it, but with some interesting
graphics and explanation.
Next Steps
We plan to be at your May 3rd Council meeting and discuss this proposal with you.
If you are in agreement with this proposal, please sign and return one copy of this document for
our records.
N:UNarketing Dept\Proposalsl00 Letter Proposals\2022 Letter Proposals\Pequot Lakes Patriot Ave temp test section 20220427.docx
