AGENDA ITEM #8.4
City of
Pequot
Lakes-
REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Kate Petersen—PLPD
Date: April 5, 2022
Subject: Partnering with surrounding LE agencies to apply for a grant to
purchase"APEX officer" a 21 si century virtual reality training platform for law
enforcement. It's a 360 degree fully immersive virtual reality simulator which
enables officers to train for real world situations which includes use-of-force, de-
escalation crisis intervention, and active shooters to name a few.
Report: This grant requires a resolution to support and authorize the
application of this Sourcewell community impact funding. This impact funding
also requires collaboration with other agencies willing to commit to utilizing this
important training tool. The city would not incur any financial liability related to
this partnership. I've had the opportunity to see the demo of this product and am
impressed with its capabilities to provide fluid training. There is also no
reoccurring cost for ownership.
Council Action Requested: Approval and singing of the resolution.
