However, we have had past requests from <br /> - firefighters to enroll in the City health insurance plan and <br /> upon inquiring we have been told they are not eligible. <br /> Presently there are no Council Members on the City's <br /> health insurance plan. <br /> Staff's recommendation would be to not allow the Council <br /> to enroll in the City's insurance plan, but to continue giving <br /> the Council the $300 per month as part of their wage. <br /> This would also be the time to consider an increase in wage <br /> if the Council so desires. <br /> This would not take place until after the next municipal <br /> election according to State Statute (attached). <br /> Council Action Requested: If the Council concurs, I <br /> would like to amend the existing ordinance with the <br /> codification process in February. <br /> `.. <br />
