MOTION <br /> CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 8.4 Approval to hire FT Officer <br /> Mayor Gardner presented the staff report. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE ADVERTISING FOR <br /> A PATROL POLICE OFFICER. NO SECOND. MOTION DIED. <br /> MAYOR GARDNER MOVED TO TABLE THE HIRING OF A POLICE OFFICER <br /> UNTIL FEBRUARY FOR FURTHER RESEARCH TO BE COMPLETED. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING SEONDED THE MOTION. COUNCIL <br /> MEMBERS RONNING, CLEMENT AND MAYOR GARDNER VOTED AYE, <br /> COUNCIL MEMBERS SEILS AND PEDERSON VOTED NAY. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 3-2. <br /> Sergeant Franz stated that the police department is going to be down two full <br /> time patrol officers with Officer Pickar leaving. <br /> Mayor Gardner expressed his concerns about scheduling issues and the terrible <br /> timing with a police officer being on light duty with hiring another officer at this <br /> time. <br /> Council Member Ronning is not concerned about hiring a new officer however, <br /> he would like to study the cost with hiring an officer. <br /> Council Member Pederson has no issue with posting the advertisement but still <br /> feels there should be research completed when we receive applicants. <br /> Council Member Seils feels we should not post the advertisement if we have no <br /> intention of hiring immediately. <br /> 9. Public Works <br /> 9.1. Public Works Report <br /> Rich Spiczka presented the staff report. <br /> 9.2. Partial Payment Estimate—Larsen Parkway Project <br /> Tim Houle presented the staff report. Mr. Houle explained that the$2,115.42 was <br /> the amount over the budget and the City's retainage is still $9,463.11. <br />
