City Council Minutes <br /> January 4, 2022 <br /> Page3 of7 <br /> Mayor Gardner informed the Council that Larry Oaks has retired from the Pequot <br /> Lakes Fire Department after 29 years of service. The Council acknowledged his <br /> retirement and thanked him for his service. <br /> 7.4. Joint Department Discussion <br /> Tom Nelson stated that the committee consisting of Mayor Gardner; Rich <br /> Spiczka, City Administrator; Bill Rickard, First Assistant Chief; and Tom Nelson, <br /> Fire Chief, and Mike Schwenk!, Second Assistant Chief; has met to discuss how <br /> Pequot Lakes can work with the City of Breezy Point for a joint-powers <br /> agreement. Discussion ensued regarding the new draft agreement; legal <br /> ramifications; discussions within the committee; how the fire fighters feel <br /> regarding the joint powers agreement; and what the cost of the joint powers will <br /> be for equipment, insurance and buildings versus Breezy Point leaving the <br /> department. <br /> 8. Police <br /> 8.1 Police Department Monthly Report <br /> The November 2021, Council received Police Department Monthly Report. <br /> 8.2. Resolution for LELS Union Agreement 2022 <br /> Mayor Gardner presented the Labor Agreement with Law Enforcement Labor <br /> Services covering the Police Department Unit from January 1, 2022, to <br /> December 31, 2023. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 22-05 <br /> APPROVING THE LABOR AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEQUOT <br /> LAKES AND THE LAW ENFORCEMENT LABOR SERVICES COVERING THE <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT UNIT FORM JANUARY 1, 2022, TO DECEMBER 31, <br /> 2023. COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Council Member Ronning had concerns that the contract wages were higher than <br /> what was approved initially and would like accountability and raises based on job <br /> performance. Council Member Pederson would like a report of total <br /> compensation (including insurances, paid time off)and was surprised by the two- <br /> year contract. Mayor Gardner suggested a workshop discussion on the Labor <br /> Agreement. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE—COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING—AYE; COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER CLEMENT—AYE; COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS—AYE; COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER PEDERSON—AYE; MAYOR GARDNER—AYE.
