Upon completion, the City will have a funding application and required exhibits which will be submitted to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR)for grant funding to redevelop the Trailside Park. Proiect Description: The proposed project consists of funding assistance for the DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant Program,which is available at this time. The DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant program will pay up to 50% (to a maximum of $300,000) of the cost of redevelopment of local parks and recreation areas. Eligible key recreational facilities include trails (internal non-motorized park trails), splash pads, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and others. With one of the eligible recreation facilities above, funding can be requested for a restroom building, parking lot, landscaping, walkways, and fixed park furnishings. We highly recommend including the splash pad with this request for an eligible and competitive funding request. Local financial match for this project needs to be secured before the application deadline of March 31, 2022. This can include cash donations, value of material, labor and equipment donated and/or City funds. All construction must be completed by June 30, 2024. If the City decides not to wait until 2023 and wants to proceed with the splash pad yet this year, we anticipate the competitiveness of this proposal will decrease. Scope of Services Widseth proposes the following: • Attend one meeting with whoever the City chooses to give us direction on the location and extent of improvements for the splash pad, parking lot improvements, new restroom building (tied to splashpad "mechanical" room), etc.to include in the grant application.
