approval and execution of this Agreement by the Original Parties. This Agreement shall continue <br /> in full force and effect until it is terminated in a manner provided herein.Except as providedshall herein, <br /> the Fire Services Commencement Date is the date that all provisions of this Agreement <br /> be <br /> implemented in full transferring all Fire Services operations to the District,provided however,that <br /> the Original Parties hereto have adopted a resolution approving this Agreement and authorizing its <br /> execution, and the Agreement has been fully executed by the authorized representatives of the <br /> Original Parties. <br /> ARTICLE VI <br /> ORGANIZATION AND GOVERNANCE <br /> A Joint Powers Fire Board(hereinafter referred to as the`Board")is hereby created for the <br /> governance of the District and to facilitate the performa ice of this Agreement throughout its term. <br /> Such Board shall have the powers specifically given'`herein and shall have the power to make <br /> recommendations to the Parties to improve cooperation and efficiency in canying out the intent of <br /> this Agreement and to make recommendations "for amendments_and supplements to this <br /> Agreement. <br /> Subdivision 1. The Board shall consist of sr ;(6).tnembers and be made up as follows: <br /> a. The Mayor for the city of each Original.Party shall..serve on the Board until the end of his <br /> or her term. <br /> IL Two members ofthe Board,one appointed from each Original Party,shall be a respective <br /> citizen of eat Original Party recommended for appointment by the Mayor of each <br /> respective Original Party With approval thereof by the respective City Council of the city <br /> making the respeve appointment with such person serving on the Board for the term <br /> stated herein or until'eager**laced by another citizen of the respective city of that <br /> Original Party. <br /> c. Two members of the Board, one from each Original Party, shall be appointed by the <br /> respective City Council of eac ,Original Party from its City Council members to serve on <br /> the Board for the term stated hereinor until earlier replaced by the respective City Council <br /> of that Original Party as provided herein. In addition,one City Council member from each <br /> Original Party shall be appointed as an alternate to attend meetings of the Board in the <br /> event that a respective city's Mayor or appointed Council member is unable to attend a <br /> Board meeting. <br /> Subdivision 2. In order to stagger the term ending dates,in the first year of this Agreement, <br /> the citizen representative appointed by each respective city shall be appointed to a one(1)year <br /> term;and the city council representative appointed by each respective city shall be appointed to a <br /> two (2) year term. Thereafter, with the exception of the Mayor of each Original Party, Board <br /> Member terms shall be two(2)years in duration,except that the term must coincide with the Board <br /> Member's term on their respective City Council.The City Administrators of each of the Original <br /> Parties shall serve as ex-officio, non-voting members of the Board.
